How to get your GitHub token
Create a personal access token with the right permissions — we verify it before your order is created
For followers (free)
- Go to GitHub Settings → Developer settings → Personal access tokens
- Click "Generate new token (classic)"
- Give it a name like "follo-followers"
- Select the user:follow and read:user scopes under
user(required for following/unfollowing users) - Click "Generate token" and copy the token
For repo stars (free)
- Same steps as above, but select the public_repo scope (required for starring/unstarring public repositories)
Your token is encrypted and only used for follow and star operations as part of the exchange.
Your order was rejected — here is why
We verify your token before the order is created, so these messages are safe to fix and retry:
- "That GitHub token is invalid, expired or revoked." The token was deleted, regenerated, or has expired — or you pasted the username instead of the token. Create a new one at GitHub token settings and paste the new value.
- "That token belongs to GitHub user X, not Y." The username field must match the account the token belongs to. Case does not matter, a different account does — each token works for one account only.
- "That token is missing the user:follow permission." Edit the existing token in your token list and tick the scope. Editing scopes keeps the same token value, so you can paste it straight back in.
- "That GitHub token is not allowed to access your GitHub account." GitHub refused the token. Fine-grained tokens need the Users permission set to read and write, owned by the account you enter in the form.
- "We could not reach GitHub to verify your token." A temporary network problem on our side. Nothing is wrong with the token — just try again in a minute.
